West Coast Dreamin

I'm totally playing catch up on my blogging, the holidays got a little crazy and this thing hit the back burner.  December started off with a trip to California!  The excuse was Uncle Steve and soon to be Aunt Mariam's engagement party.  I was more than a little anxious about flying with an infant for the first time, especially one who had been struggling with a respiratory virus, but there was no way we were missing it. It was a quick weekend trip but we got to see most of our old friends and neighbors and met lots of Mariam's family at the best pre-party ever.

I learned on this trip that even with an infant, an umbrella stroller, two pieces of mechanical equipment (nebulizer and pump) and well over the allotted 3 oz of liquid in my carry-on in thr form of baby bottles, Scott and I are still better travelers than 90% of America.  My favorite fellow traveler was the lady in her mid 50's dressed like a 20 year old making out with her boyfriend in his mid 60's rather than getting in the Security line.  After spending 10 minutes playing grab-ass in public she practically had a panic attack when the line to go through the metal detector was slow, she kept saying she was going to miss her flight....really lady?  But that's another blog...

I also learned that if you have an infant you will be the last person that anyone wants to sit with on a Southwest flight.  Joke's on them because our baby didn't cry at all on either flight...except for when Scott bent over to pick something up and bonked her in the head.

First flight from Kansas City to LAX non-stop and lovin it!
We went straight from the airport to our old neighbors house for a little get together with only a quick stop to drop off bags, feed the baby and do a diaper change at the hotel.  We spent many nights in the Dahlquist Man Cave when we lived in Long Beach and it was great to be back.

"You have a baby...in a bar" Kyra fell asleep in a noisy bar with a bunch of people drinking around her...she gets that from her dad.
We had the chance to hang out with friends all day on Saturday and had a great time at the engagement party that night.  We all drank enough that we also danced all night long which is a good thing for any reception.

It's been awhile since she had an infant, but Juli still had the touch.

Grandpa and Grandma Albers were happy to watch Kyra while her parents danced.

I think Kyra may have been good enough to convice Landon that Christie is right, they are ready for kids..he may not remember it that way...

All partied out in her first Little Black Dress
